There are pieces you wear because they’re beautiful, and then there are pieces that have a little history tucked inside them.
This stunning Victorian crescent was originally made as a brooch and has been hand-converted into a pendant, now paired with a uniquely designed 18" 14k gold chain. The crescent is set with natural pearls and sparkling natural diamonds, with approximately 0.40 carat total diamond weight, creating that wonderful combination of soft pearl glow and old-world sparkle.
Crescents were a favorite Victorian motif, particularly toward the end of the 19th century, when celestial jewelry was everywhere. The moon carried associations with femininity, spirituality, and change, while pearls could symbolize purity—or, in the language of Victorian mourning jewelry, tears. It's easy to imagine a woman of the period wearing a crescent like this as a sentimental piece, whether for romance, remembrance, or simply because she liked the way it looked by candlelight.
The pendant measures approximately 2.5" long, making quite a statement while still feeling graceful around the neck. The original Victorian crescent paired with its unique new chain gives the whole piece a wonderful mix of history and personality.
For the woman who likes her jewelry with a story... and doesn't mind a little moonlight mixed in!
