Vintage Zuni-Style Inlay Opal Earrings

Colorful geometric inlay meets luminous opal in these wonderfully graphic vintage drops. Each earring features an opal cabochon at the top, followed by a long marquise-shaped drop filled with vibrant geometric inlay in shades of turquoise blue, red, yellow, green, and black. The mirrored designs and twisted silver borders give them a particularly polished, architectural feel.

The inlay technique is closely associated with Zuni jewelry, where carefully cut pieces of turquoise, coral, shell, jet, and other materials are fitted together to create intricate mosaic-like designs. These have that unmistakable colorful and quality.

Marked “STERLING” on the backs, pierced, and approximately 2 inches long, these earrings are finished with luminous opal cabochons and colorful stone and/or glass inlay. Lightweight enough for easy wear, but distinctive enough to make a statement.
